  • AstraZeneca Innovation Day

    Our Co-Director, Ritu Agarwal, was invited to speak at AstraZeneca’s Lung Innovation Day during Lung Cancer Awareness Month in December 2024. Her keynote focused on empowering patients in lung cancer care and education. She was joined by a distinguished lineup of speakers, including renowned oncologist Dr. Dean Felsher from Stanford University, İlker Arslan, US Medical Head at AstraZeneca, Renee Yao, who leads global healthcare AI startups at NVIDIA, Kapil Parakh, Senior Medical Lead at Google, and Christine Tsien Silvers, Healthcare Executive Advisor at Amazon Web Services (AWS).

  • American Neurotology Society

    Dr. Gordon Gao was invited to deliver the keynote address at the 2024 American Neurotology Society Fall Scientific Program in Miami. His presentation entitled "Word of Mouth Marketing: Does it Matter?" focused on the transformation of digital marketing, highlighting his expertise in the field. The conference, hosted by the American Neurotology Society, brought together leading otolaryngologists to discuss the latest developments in neurotological medicine.

  • American Academy of Nursing’s Health Policy Conference

    Ritu Agarwal, Co-Director, was honored to join the panel 'Shaping Our Virtual World: The Impact of Innovation, Design & Outcomes' at the American Academy of Nursing’s Health Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. this November. Alongside experts like Dr. Matthew Diamond (FDA), Dr. Mary Joy Garcia-Dia (New York-Presbyterian), and moderator Patti Brennan (Former Director, National Library of Medicine), Dr. Agarwal explored the transformative potential of virtual health, community partnerships, and nursing's economic impact in driving a more equitable healthcare future.

  • NC Medical Journal Policy Forum: Invited Commentaries & Sidebars

    Enthusiasm about the promise of artificial intelligence and machine learning in health care must be accompanied by oversight and remediation of any potential adverse effects on health equity goals that these technologies may create. In a recent policy piece published in the North Carolina Medical Journal, Co-Directors Ritu Agarwal and Gordon Gao outline five key equity imperatives for the use of AI/ML in health care that require attention from health care professionals, developers, and policymakers.

  • Cambridge Handbook on Digital Platforms Symposium

    CDHAI faculty member Wei Wang presented a preview of a chapter he co-authored with Ritu Agarwal, Gordon Gao, Jennifer Bagdasarian, and Atiye Erol at the Cambridge Handbook on Digital Platforms Symposium in Los Angeles. The chapter, focused on Digital Health Platforms, is part of the upcoming handbook.

  • WITS Conference 2024

    CDHAI PhD student Junjie Luo presented his research, entitled "Foundation Models for Diabetes Management: Integrating Diverse Human Behavioral and Sensor Data," at the Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems (WITS) conference in December 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. WITS is a leading academic conference for exploring innovations in information systems, held in conjunction with ICIS (the International Conference on Information Systems.)

  • JH School of Nursing Research Retreat

    Co-Director Gordon Gao recently served as the keynote presenter at the 2024 Johns Hopkins School of Nursing Research Retreat, where he discussed the impact of Generative AI (GenAI) on healthcare. His talk highlighted the transformative potential of GenAI in improving patient care, clinical workflows, and healthcare outcomes. Dr. Gao addressed an audience that included faculty, trainees, post-doctoral fellows, doctoral students, research staff, and nurses at Johns Hopkins Hospital, emphasizing how these technologies could reshape the future of healthcare delivery.
