Our Co-Director, Ritu Agarwal, was invited to speak at AstraZeneca’s Lung Innovation Day during Lung Cancer Awareness Month in December 2024. Her keynote focused on empowering patients in lung cancer care and education. NC Medical Journal Policy Forum: Invited Commentaries & Sidebars
Enthusiasm about the promise of artificial intelligence and machine learning in health care must be accompanied by oversight and remediation of any potential adverse effects on health equity goals that these technologies may create. In a recent policy piece published in the North Carolina Medical Journal, Co-Directors Ritu Agarwal and Gordon Gao outline five key equity imperatives for the use of AI/ML in health care that require attention from health care professionals, developers, and policymakers.

CDHAI PhD student Junjie Luo presented his research, entitled "Foundation Models for Diabetes Management: Integrating Diverse Human Behavioral and Sensor Data," at the Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems (WITS) conference in December 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. WITS is a leading academic conference for exploring innovations in information systems, held in conjunction with ICIS (the International Conference on Information Systems.)
